Art is a universal way for people to express themselves and share their feelings with the world. It is an important avenue through which to connect with others. Ultimately, art is a platform for people to express themselves and live out their dreams. It allows us to express our feelings, emotions and thoughts in ways that are not always possible in words or actions. The truth is that art is all around us and it is important because it’s part of all of us!

In that context, Jorge Luis Morales is a successful businessman and entrepreneur, founder and CEO of Art Drop, a platform which has the objective to making visible

Latin American artists outside their countries. Art has always played a leading role in Jorge’s life, who always dreamed of having his own gallery. Now, he not only has it but he is helping thousands of artists to achieve all their dreams!

“I want to expose the hidden talent of many artists to the American, European and Asian markets. I’m convinced that, as artists, we can live from what we love and I want to demystify the belief that we cannot live from art. I have always believed that your work speaks for you and that when you do what you love you don’t have to work a day of your life!”, Jorge explains.

Jorge and his team manage to stand out from the crowd because they truly focus on the passion, happiness and well-being of the people with whom they collaborate. They represent a platform that seeks that Latin American art has greater exposure in the world through digital tools and physical projects.

“Part of our mission is that artists focus completely on their passion and leave the responsibility for the visibility and promotion of their work to us. I believe in Art Drop with all my heart, this project has the capacity to transform lives and if we are lucky, to even break paradigms that have existed for many years”, Jorge adds.

To get to where he is today, Jorge has had to face difficulties including his diagnosis with bipolar disorder at age 36 and his subsequent admission to the hospital for over three weeks. In addition, his ex-girlfriend broke up with him, citing his illness as an excuse and keeping all his things, including his dog. His brother-in-law also took away Jorge’s old business, Death Valley, and  left him without any source of income.

Although Jorge lost all his clients, he did not give up. Quite the opposite! He decided to start working on a dream that he had for years: to create an art gallery that was also a platform with the mission of making visible and monetizing highly talented Latin American artists.

“After leaving the psychiatric hospital, the worst time of my life, my brain chemistry was completely unbalanced. After a lot of work with my psychologist, psychiatrist and my family, I now believe that this disability has transformed me into a better person in many ways”, Jorge details.

After that hard experience, Jorge realized how little people know about mental illnesses and he was extremely surprised by how much hate exists against people who are different. The truth is that there is a lot of stigma regarding mental illness in Mexico and in Latin America in general, and Jorge would like to share that it is possible to live a happy and healthy life with the right medication and  proper professional care.

“In fact, I’m thinking of building an association that helps bipolar people to live a full and happy life with medication and the necessary psychological help”, Jorge shares.

Jorge advises all entrepreneurs who are looking to start a new business not to wait for the moment to be perfect. Instead, he encourages them to start with what they have and learn as they go.

“We live in a world where the only constant is change. Markets go up, they go down and to this day there is no one capable of predicting with certainty the behavior of the economy. Don’t be afraid of failure. We learn more from defeats than from victories. Build a team who shares your own values & follow what you are passionate about!”, he concludes.
